I have a Promise SATA 300 TX ( NOT raid ) that do have RHEL4 driver, but
this driver doesn?t work with CentOS4
Why?
What can I do to get a driver that works?

This one should be for the correct 2.6 kernel, but it's no go
I get this error:
#sh install
Promise SATA II 150/300 Driver Installation...failed No suitable driver
found make sure driver disk or kernel version is right
