A USB-attached UPS like yours should be straightforward in NUT.

Add to /etc/ups/ups.conf:

   [apc]
            driver = usbhid-ups
            port = auto

Set MODE=standalone in /etc/ups/nut.conf.

Set up the monitoring user according to the docs.

Done.
