X11 forwarding

Note my earlier response.  cygwin provides an X server you can run under
Windows and is, last I checked, freely available.

You can also setup ssh tunneling with putty and run vnc over that to
your linux system.  Have used that in the past and it works very well.

But if you want X11 forwarding you need an X server.
