USB 3.1 Gen 1 is the same thing as USB 3.0.

USB 3.1 Gen 2 is a different thing entirely as I expect it needs a much
newer kernel. I don't think it strictly requires USB-C, but in practice
that's the only form factor I've seen it appear in so far.
