Okay, I get what you mean.  But there is still the /boot mapping issue.
In other words, whatever you boot (be it / or a separate /boot), you
still have issues.

So I agree that disk labels are _great_ for all filesystems to avoid
such things, even for GRUB.  But there are still boot-time mapping
issues before you get to that stage.
