This is an upstream (RHEL) package, so there’s not much CentOS can do about it.

I did look in Red Hat’s Bugzilla, and discovered this:

which is marked CLOSED WONTFIX.

This BZ as well as some of the other RHEL7 BZs for the same package makes me think that RHEL 7.3 will have a bumped version that fixes the issue.  I expect you’ll have to wait until CentOS 7.3 is released for the fix.
