At what point are you having issues?
How far did you get?

Install as root passing the "/net" option at the command
line. This does a "network install" (old/single Windows user
terminology -- it means install it in a central area for all
users, even though it's on the same system) into
/opt/staroffice or /usr/local/staroffice.

Once it has been installed, run /opt/staroffice/setup (or any
StarOffice binary) as a regular user you wish to use it as.
This will do a "workstation installation" (again, old/single
Windows user terminology -- means setup local user files) and
this will install a few MBs (user files) in the user's home
directory.

BTW, don't forget that you might need to "chmod ugo+x
./setup" the setup executable so you can run it.
