I prefer tea. On my C5 I have

.l /etc/redhat-release 
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 28 Sep 19  2014 /etc/redhat-release

However on C6

.l /etc|.g release
-rw-r--r--.  1 root root   27 Oct 23 12:41 centos-release
lrwxrwxrwx.  1 root root   14 Dec 14 18:08 redhat-release -> centos-release
lrwxrwxrwx.  1 root root   14 Dec 14 18:08 system-release -> centos-release
