Just for information. Mariadb is a fork of mysql. The fork was done by
part of mysql team as a response to acquisition of mysql by Oracle. This
is an acquisition of open source very popular database by company main
commercial product of which is commercial database (oracle; very expensive
BTW). Some have reservations about a future of mysql in view of this fact,
and I am one of them. (Even though I prefer to use wherever I can much
better IMHO open source database: postgresql). But I do not have
reservations about a future of mariadb. I'm sure your math will be the
same as mine.
