I also would be remiss if I didn't point out that if this is the case, you've done him a huge, huge disservice by spreading a non-contextual insult towards a class of people that he probably actually did say. Perhaps now he will be more careful with what he says - even amongst friends. Sometimes things said in confidence can come back to bite you. What he said, even if amongst friends, btw, *is* wrong, and stupid, and should not have been said.
