install configuration editor 2.28.0
yum install gconf-editor.x86_64
go to gdm in the tree view and expand
click simple-greeter
right click disable_user_list and choose set as default (enter root pw)
right click disable_user_list and choose set as mandatory (enter root pw)
logout
