I had to turn it on in compiz settings, then <super>-e or top-left corner and apps can be moved between workspaces. Sometimes, though, when using ctl-alt right/left arrow, my browser in workspace 1 ends up in workspace 6. OK, it just did it. Was moving to the right and when I rolled around from 8 to 1, the compiz settings and a browser both moved to workspace 6.
