Are you sure about that?  Note that when switching to a text console 
from an X session, you have to use [Ctrl]-[Alt]-[Fn] instead of the 
[Alt]-[Fn] you'd use from a text console.  From a text console, you 
can switch back to X with [Alt]-[F7].
