Sending mail needs lines that specify who is allowed to "relay" mail through your server. Setting a "tail -f /var/log/maillog" will also give you much information on what is happening when sending and receiving mail. Postfix is a very complex animal and I would recommend studying the documents at http://www.postfix.com/documentation.html thoroughly.
