Apt does not support mutlilib arches (that is anything in CentOS except the i386 arch). With CentOS-4, we did add an i386 only apt tree. That being said, the main developer of apt has stopped developing apt for RPM and has moved on to a new thing called "Smart Package Manager": http://labix.org/smart Smartpm works with CentOS-4.x ... it does not work with CentOS-3.x.
