Never used ifcfg-eth0-range, but did you try 49 to 54 instead of 48 to 55?

$ ipcalc 192.168.1.48/29
Address:   192.168.1.48         11000000.10101000.00000001.00110 000
Netmask:   255.255.255.248 = 29 11111111.11111111.11111111.11111 000
Wildcard:  0.0.0.7              00000000.00000000.00000000.00000 111
