this opensource toolkit http://www.ocsinventory-ng.org/en/  will build a 
SQL database of all of that sort of information as well as applications 
(rpm's, etc) for every server you configure to run its lightweight 
little agent...  it also handles windows, aix, solaris, and other OS's.
