You might be able to install something from fc2 or fc3 on CentOS-4 ...
but you probably can't maintain the updates as FC3 and RHEL4 code
becomes more divergent in the future.

Your best bet (even though it is a pain) is to build your RPM from
source.

I can't build anything that plays mp3s or decodes DVDs and then
distribute it ... unless I want to either pay a royalty (for mp3s) or be
charged with violating the DMCA (dvd's).

Those are available though.
