Postfix wont stay started

What should I start troubleshooting when postfix will not stay running:

[root@mercury ssl]# service postfix start
Starting postfix:                                          [  OK  ]
[root@mercury ssl]# service postfix status
master is stopped
[root@mercury ssl]#
