Me, too.  But that's not very often, and I generally have enough
other things to do that a few seconds while kudzu runs doesn't
faze me.

It doesn't.  

I just found it hard to believe that shaving a few
seconds off a reboot could really make a big difference in
someone's life.

If kudzu is killing your machine, well, yeah, you'd want to stop
that.  Seems like there were several other useful suggestions to
handle that situation.
