I think the whole thing's kinda funny, really. MySQL switched to the GPL for their libraries (from the LGPL). Usually, people get upset at the non-GPL folks. The problem with RHEL and MySQL is that PHP is linked against MySQL, and it's not compatible with the GPL. Why isn't anyone upset with PHP about this? In any case, it probably wouldn't take a genius to rewrite the MySQL libraries from scratch and release it under the LGPL. Eventually, someone will probably do that. Steve Meyers
