I'm on 3.3. I do have a /usr/sbin/tethereal. From what I'e read it's not unusual not to have a /usr/sbin/ethereal when you have ehtereal-gnome. I don't think I do. I always thought there was an ANSI-looking version you could run from console. Maybe I'm confused with something else. I don't run X at all, so I don't have a need for an X-based ethereal.
