As other have pointed out it is update watch applet. I think in the
boxes that do not have proper DNS setup or connect internet through
proxy only this applet goes into hand and slows down logouts.
I am on a machine right now where there is no problem but in the other
machine at home (behind a proxy firewall) removing the applet speeded
up the things.
