The included one doesn't work with that card though.

Hold on let me double check that I'm telling the truth.   :)
(I only have a 64 bit system to test, my 32 bit machine has been
confiscated by my wife).  


kernel 2.6.18-128.1.6.el5.centos.plus

Remove Alan's kmod.  (Sorry Alan.)  

Reboot.

lsmod |grep ath

ath5k is listed

ifconfig wlan0

error fetching interface information: Device not found. 

Nope, I was right, at least in 64 bit. 

Pretty sure that's the case for 32 bit as well.
