CDC Expands Guidance to Better Protect Farm Workers for H5 Bird Flu
A recent MMWR showed that 7 percent of a small subset of farm workers in Michigan and Colorado exposed to dairy cows with H5N1 had evidence of recent infection. As a result of these findings, CDC has adjusted its bird flu guidance for monitoring, testing and preventive treatment among farm workers. The agency also has prioritized personal protective equipment (PPE) use recommendations for people at highest risk of exposure.
