New Study Shows Early Flu Antiviral Treatment Prevents Death in Hospitalized Adults A new CDC study suggests that starting antiviral treatment early reduces the risk of death in adults hospitalized with flu. The study looked at data for more than 26,000 patients collected over seven flu seasons. The findings support CDC’s recommendation to begin flu antiviral treatment as soon as possible for patients hospitalized with suspected or confirmed flu. Learn More

Cluster of Human Cases of H5 Bird Flu in Colorado (MMWR Update)    The new MMWR reports the first U.S. cluster of human H5 bird flu cases linked to poultry exposure. In July 2024, Colorado found H5 bird flu in poultry workers at two facilities. Out of 663 workers, 109 had symptoms; 8.3% tested positive for H5, and 17.4% for SARS-CoV-2. Workers experienced mild symptoms and were given oseltamivir. Learn More
