On August 22, 2024 the FDA authorized new Fall 2024 season COVID-19 mRNA vaccines for the Omicron variant KP.2 strain of SARS-CoV-2.
The FDA action included the following approvals and authorizations COVID-19 Vaccines | FDA
BLA Licensure Approved Products:
- Moderna SPIKEVAX (COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula) for ages 12 and older
- Pfizer COMIRNATY (COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula) for ages 12 and older
Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) Products:
- Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 6 months through 4 years
- Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 5 years through 11 years
- Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, 2024-2025 Formula for ages 6 months through 11 years
CDC updates the vaccine code set records and files once drug listing and DailyMed information is available from the FDA. These resources are anticipated soon. The Fall 2024 COVID-19 Vaccine Codes and Crosswalks table published includes the CVX, NDC, MVX and CPT codes and descriptions for the newly authorized vaccines.
A subsequent vaccine code set release will be published as soon as all the data needed has been received and curated. Release notes will be sent to subscribers when that release is published.
