To date, 1,390 people are being monitored because of their exposure, and at least 60 have been tested. CDC continues a targeted digital outreach initiative in affected counties to inform farm workers about H5N1 bird flu, how to reduce their risk of infection, and what to do if they develop symptoms.

CDC Reports Fourth Human Case of H5 Bird Flu Tied to Dairy Cow Outbreak

A human case of A(H5) identified in Colorado marks the fourth case associated with an ongoing outbreak of H5N1 bird flu in U.S. dairy cows. As with previous cases, the person is a worker on a dairy farm with exposure to sick cows. The person reported eye symptoms only and has recovered. Based on the information available at this time, this case does not change CDC’s health risk assessment for the U.S. general public, which remains low.
