At least 13 children got sick with Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli after drinking or playing in untreated, pressurized, municipal irrigation water supplied to their yards and other places throughout their Utah community.
Newly arrived migrants who traveled through areas where malaria is commonly spread by mosquitos made up most (72%) of the reported cases in three areas along the U.S. border and had more severe illness than U.S. residents who had traveled to an area where malaria is present.
