Vietnam Reports First Human Infection with Avian Influenza H9N2 Virus
Human infections with A(H9N2) viruses have been reported sporadically around the world since 1998. The virus is a different subtype of avian influenza virus than the one currently causing
outbreaks in cattle in the United States. At this time, there is no indication that this A(H9N2) virus is spreading from person to person in Vietnam or that it poses a threat to the U.S. public.
