Human Infection with an Influenza Virus from Pigs, First in US in 2024
On March 29, 2024, CDC reported the first U.S. human infection this year with an
influenza A(H1N2) variant (v) virus that normally circulates in pigs. This infection was detected in a person living near a pig farm in Pennsylvania who had direct contact with pigs. The person was hospitalized and has since recovered from their illness. No person-to-person spread of this virus has been identified.
