Notes from the Field: Measles Outbreak
The Cook County Department of Public Health in Illinois launched an investigation after five measles cases were reported in October and November of 2023. More than 400 people were exposed to measles, including 13 children younger than 12 months.
Outbreak Linked to Morel Mushroom Exposure
During March–April 2023, 51 people reported mild-to-severe gastrointestinal illness after eating at the same restaurant in Montana. Morel mushrooms were found to be the likely source of illness.
Notes from the Field: Surveillance for Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children
Although MIS-C cases have greatly decreased since the start of the pandemic, there was an increase in monthly reported cases in the fall of 2023, following increases in COVID-19 activity.
