New Wild to Mild Campaign Focuses on Taming Worst of Flu Symptoms

CDC launched a new campaign to share information about how a flu vaccine reduces the severity of flu illness in people who get vaccinated but still get sick. Flu vaccine effectiveness varies but reduces the risk of flu illness by about half in people who are vaccinated. The new campaign emphasizes the benefit flu vaccine can provide in terms of preventing serious outcomes.

Take Measures to Prevent the Spread of Novel Flu Infections

A new case of novel influenza H1N2v was reported this week by CDC in a person in Montana who reportedly had recent exposure to pigs at a fair. Sporadic human infections with flu viruses that usually spread in pigs happen every year, often in agricultural fairs. CDC has recommendations for people in contact with pigs.

#Flu can be dangerous for people with certain chronic health conditions. But a flu vaccine can tame flu’s more serious symptoms — reducing the risk of illness and flu-related hospitalization if you do get sick. #FightFlu
