Wastewater Surveillance Data as a Complement to Emergency Department Visit Data for Tracking Incidence of Influenza A and Respiratory Syncytial Virus — Wisconsin, August 2022–March 2023

Wisconsin public health officials compared the timing of influenza virus and respiratory syncytial virus detection in wastewater to emergency department visits associated with these viruses to determine if wastewater monitoring could be useful for early detection of respiratory virus outbreaks.
