Two U.S. Human Infections with Flu Viruses from Pigs Reported for 2023

This week, CDC reported the first two human infections with flu viruses that usually spread in pigs to be detected in people during 2023. These infections both occurred in people exposed to pigs at different fairs in Michigan and were caused by different subtypes of swine flu viruses. CDC recommends that people take precautions around pigs, including guidance for fair exhibitors.

Clinician Call on Vaccination of Pregnant People During 2023-2024

Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM ET, CDC and ACOG will co-host a COCA Call on vaccination of pregnant people during 2023-2024 to protect them and their babies from respiratory diseases. Subject matter experts will discuss vaccine recommendations, coverage, and timing for influenza, Tdap and COVID-19 vaccines and give an update on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) protection.
