VIS Document Code Set Updates July 24, 2023

 

Release Notes:  This release covers code updates for Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) codes and maps.  

 

These release notes address code updates for the following:

  1. New first edition VIS for “RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine” with effective date of July 24, 2023
  2. New edition VIS for “Multi Pediatric Vaccines VIS” with effective date of July 24, 2023
  3. New CVX code 305 added

VIS Code Update Details
VIS codes are created to enable provider systems to implement VIS scanning and to help automate capture of the specific VIS document edition given to the recipient or caregiver.  VIS codes may be published in advance of the actual VIS document publication, but they are only in effect and useable starting on the edition date of the VIS.  The URLs included in the code set will not point to the new edition until the VIS document edition date.

 

This release includes the following VIS related code additions:

  1. New VIS first edition added: “RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine”, dated 07/24/2023.  This first edition VIS is for the new adult RSV vaccines.

In the code set files, the following has been added for the new VIS edition record:

  • VIS Document Type description: “RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine (*)
  • New document identifier, “VIS Fully-encoded text string”:  253088698300060811230724
  • “Edition Date”:  07/24/2023
  • “Date of Last Update”:  07/24/2023
  • “Edition Status”:  Current
  • “GDTI”: 0886983000608
  • New URLs:
  • Two CVX Codes have been associated to this VIS:
    • 303, “Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), vaccine, recombinant, protein subunit RSV prefusion F, adjuvant reconstituted, 0.5 mL, preservative free”
    • 305, “Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), vaccine, bivalent, protein subunit RSV prefusion F, diluent reconstituted, 0.5 mL, preservative free”
  1. New VIS edition added: “Multi Pediatric Vaccines VIS” dated 07/24/2023.  This edition supersedes the prior edition dated 10/15/2021.

  • “Edition Status”:  Historic
  1. New CVX Code 305 added:  Note that the full set of codes associated to this CVX code including crosswalks to MVX, NDCs, and CPT will be included in the next full vaccine code set release.
