New CDC Study Identifies Timing of Seasonal Flu Epidemics for 25 Countries in Africa 

A new CDC study published in the Lancet Global Health looked at 10 years of laboratory flu data from 25 African countries in order to provide new, policy-relevant information about when to expect annual flu epidemics. The findings lay the foundation for timely public health interventions with the potential to reduce flu illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths in these countries.

Cancer Patients, Survivors, and Caregivers Should Get a Flu Vaccine

President Biden declared April 2023 National Cancer Control month, making this is a good time to remind people that flu vaccination is important for people with cancer or a history of cancer and their caregivers. Cancer patients and survivors are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications, but a flu vaccine has been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death.
