Weekly U.S. Flu Activity Report

Flu activity is low across the country, but annual flu vaccination is recommended for as long as flu activity is ongoing. CDC also is reporting seven more flu-related deaths in children this week, for a total of 132 this season.

                    Human and Animal Health Experts Meet in South America to Prepare for Bird Flu 
Human and animal health experts gathered in Brazil this week to improve the region’s capacity to detect and respond to bird flu outbreaks. A workshop helped participants plan how to hone their capacity in surveillance, early detection, and response to avian flu at the animal-human interface. CDC flu experts joined to share experience and learn about participating countries’ initiatives.
