Pediatric Flu Deaths Top 100

CDC reported 9 new flu-related pediatric deaths this week, bringing the season total to 106, the highest number of flu deaths in children during a season since the 2019-2020 season. Of the children who were eligible for flu vaccination and for whom vaccination status was known, 90% were not fully vaccinated. This tragic milestone underscores the importance of vaccinating children against flu.

Protect Your Heart during American Heart Month
During recent flu seasons, about half of adults hospitalized with flu had heart disease, and studies have shown that flu illness is associated with an increase in heart attacks and stroke. On the other hand, flu vaccination has been shown to lower rates of some cardiac events among people with heart disease. Protect your heart with an annual flu shot.
