Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report 

CDC's Influenza Division compiles and analyzes information on influenza activity year-round in the United States. According to this week's FluView report (March 20-26), activity is decreasing slightly but remains highest in the central and south central parts of the country. Activity is lower but is increasing in the northwest and northeastern parts of the country.

Stay Up to Date on the Current Bird Flu Situation in the U.S.    

CDC is closely tracking H5N1 bird flu detections among wild birds and H5N1 bird flu outbreaks among domestic poultry in the United States. As of April 1, 2022, H5N1 bird flu has been detected in wild bird(s) in 28 states and in poultry outbreaks in 23 states. To date, no human infections have been reported in the U.S. More information is available on a CDC dashboard.

People with Diabetes are at Increased Risk of Flu Complications        

A new CDC study found that adults 65 years and older with diabetes had a one and a half to two times higher rate of severe flu-related complications compared with those without diabetes. Because people with diabetes are at increased risk of flu complications, annual flu vaccination and early treatment of flu illness with flu antivirals are especially important.
