Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report 

CDC's Influenza Division compiles and analyzes information on influenza activity year-round in the United States. According to this week's FluView report (February 6 - February 12), Sporadic influenza activity continues across the country. In some areas, influenza activity is increasing.

CDC Reports One New Variant Flu Virus Infection        

Today, CDC reported a new U.S. human infection with a variant influenza virus, an influenza virus that usually spreads in pigs and not people. This is the 3rd variant influenza virus infection detected during the 2021-2022 flu reporting season. Variant influenza virus infections serve as a reminder of the importance of following CDC’s recommended precautions around swine.

CDC Data Shows Flu and COVID-19 Coinfections Are Uncommon     

It is possible to have flu and COVID-19 at the same time. Preliminary data from two CDC data sources suggest that between 3% and 6% of people who had flu also had SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
