Flu Vaccination Has Many Benefits

There are many reasons to get a flu vaccine each year. One important benefit is that flu vaccination can reduce the risk of being hospitalized with flu. Despite the benefits offered by flu vaccination, only about half of Americans get a flu vaccine each year. Many more people could be protected from flu if more people got vaccinated.

People 65 Years and Older Need a Flu Shot

Older adults are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications compared with young, healthy adults. In recent years, it’s estimated that between 50% and 70% of seasonal flu-related hospitalizations occurred among adults 65 years and older. The best way to protect against flu and its potentially serious complications is with a flu vaccine.
