Flu Vaccine Recommendations for the 2021-2022 Flu Season

The annual Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR) recommendations for the use of flu vaccines in the U.S during the 2021-2022 flu season has been published. CDC Study Finds Higher Rates of Severe Flu Outcomes Among Racial and Ethnic Minorities

A new CDC study found disparities in severe flu outcomes among racial and ethnic minority groups across 10 flu seasons from 2009-10 through 2018-19. Disparities were greatest in the youngest age groups, with hospitalization, ICU admission and in-hospital mortality rates 1.3-4.4 times higher among racial and ethnic minorities aged 0-4 years compared with non-Hispanic White children.
