Prevent Mosquito Bites

When used as directed, EPA-registered insect repellents are proven safe and effective, even for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Find the right insect repellent for you by using EPA’s search tool.

Effective Pain Management

Pain whether chronic or acute, can be devastating, and unfortunately it is a reality for many people. Effective pain management can reduce pain and help improve function so people can enjoy doing what matters to them most.

Zoonotic Diseases

People can come in contact with animals in many places. This includes at home and away from home, in places like petting zoos, fairs, schools, stores, and parks. Insects, like mosquitoes and fleas, and ticks bite people and animals day and night. Thankfully, there are things you can do to protect yourself and your family from zoonotic diseases.

Prevent Shingles

Shingles is a painful rash illness, which sometimes leads to long-term nerve pain. A shingles vaccine called Shingrix is the best way to help protect yourself against shingles.

Osteoporosis & Family

If one of your parents has had a broken bone, especially a broken hip, you may need to be screened earlier for osteoporosis. This is a medical condition where bones become weak and are more likely to break. Share your family health history with your doctor.

Powered by Tracking

Environmental Public Health Tracking is more than just data. CDC’s Tracking Program uses data science methods, expertise, and technology that make data easier to understand, act upon, and improve the health of communities.

Whooping Cough and Pregnancy

Only you can give your baby protection against whooping cough (pertussis) before your little one is even born. Talk to your doctor or midwife about getting the whooping cough vaccine (called Tdap) during your third trimester.

CDC COVID-19 Responder Stories
CDC’s Macarena Garcia compares COVID-19 case trend data with the timing of government prevention steps.

Macarena Garcia’s career in public health had a bit of an unlikely start: capitalizing on her ability to type nearly as fast as many people talk.

Now she boasts a doctorate degree in public health, is trained in data analytics, and has managed teams of senior public health technical advisers across much of sub-Saharan Africa. She has spent four years advising governments on how to effectively implement Global Fund grants, and five more years as a senior health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
