Chapter 9 – Mumps has been revised to reflect updates to the clinical manifestations and complications, epidemiology, vaccination, laboratory testing, case reporting and investigation, and outbreak investigation sections. Specific updates include 1) referring the reader to the Pink Book for vaccine information; 2) using a third dose of MMR vaccine during outbreaks; and 3) adding guidance for optimizing mumps testing.
In addition, Chapter 22 – Laboratory Support has been revised to reflect pathogen-specific updates for testing protocols and specimen collection/handling.
