Early flu vaccine coverage estimates show vaccination disparities in children remain

Early flu vaccine coverage for the 2020-2021 season among children is estimated to be 58.2% compared to 62.3% in the 2019-2020 season. Coverage disparities between children in racial and ethnic minorities remain. Specifically, coverage for White, non-Hispanic children is 12% higher than Black, non-Hispanic children.

​Flu illness is more dangerous than the common cold for children. A flu vaccine offers the best defense against flu and its potentially serious consequences and can also reduce the spread of flu to others. CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year. ​
