Tips from former smokers

10 Years of Tips

CDC is celebrating 10 years since the Tips From Former Smokers® (Tips®) campaign first hit the airwaves, inspiring millions of people to try to quit smoking. It was the first-ever federally funded national tobacco education campaign featuring real people telling their stories about their challenges of living with a smoking-related health condition and the importance of quitting for good.

Keeping Farmers Safe

Agriculture ranks among the most dangerous industries, and farm workers are at high risk for fatal and nonfatal injuries. These workers, who provide the food, fiber, and fuel that we need, are mainly outdoors in harsh conditions, and often in remote, rural, and removed areas.

Cerebral Palsy

From birth to 5 years of age, a child should reach movement goals―also known as milestones―such as rolling over, sitting up, standing, and walking. A delay in reaching these movement milestones could be a sign of CP. It is important to note that some children without CP also might have some of these signs.

TB Disease

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by bacteria that are spread through the air from person to person. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal. People infected with TB bacteria who are not sick may still need treatment to prevent TB disease from developing in the future.

World Birth Defects Day

Every year, about 3-6% of infants worldwide are born with a serious birth defect. This means that life-altering conditions like spina bifida and congenital heart defects affect millions of babies and families. Birth defects can affect babies regardless of where they are born, their socioeconomic status, or their race or ethnicity.
