CDC study shows 2019-20 flu vaccine effectively prevented hospitalizations and emergency department visits in children
A recent CDC study found that the 2019-2020 flu vaccine provided significant protection against flu-associated hospitalizations and emergency department visits among children. Specifically, the vaccine was 62% effective at preventing flu-associated hospitalizations and 56% effective at preventing flu-associated emergency department visits among children included in the study.

CDC has launched an interactive feature called the Flu ChatBot that answers common questions about flu and flu vaccines. The Flu ChatBot is currently in the pilot phase, and CDC encourages website visitors to try it out. The Flu Chatbot allows users to provide feedback on its answers which helps improve this resource.
