Prostate Cancer Awareness

Screening may find cancer that is likely to spread to other places in the body, so it can be treated before it spreads. This may lower the chance of death from prostate cancer in some men. But most prostate cancers grow slowly and don’t cause any health problems. If a screening test finds a slow-growing cancer, it may cause you to worry, and lead to unneeded tests and treatments that can have serious side effects.

Be Ready for Radiation Emergencies

Radiation can affect the body in a number of ways, and the adverse health effects of exposure may not be apparent for many years. These can range from mild effects, such as skin reddening, to serious effects such as cancer and death.

Enterovirus D68

EV-D68 can cause mild to severe respiratory illness, or no symptoms at all.
  • Mild symptoms may include runny nose, sneezing, cough, body aches, and muscle aches.
  • Severe symptoms may include wheezing and difficulty breathing.

Drug Overdose Epidemic

Drug overdose deaths continue to impact communities across the United States. Drug overdose deaths are still high:
  • >From 1999 to 2018, over 750,000 people died from a drug overdose.
  • In 2018, almost 70,000 people died from drug overdoses.
  • It was a leading cause of injury-related death in the United States.
  • Two out of three overdose deaths involved an opioid like prescription opioids, heroin, or synthetic opioids (like fentanyl).

#BeThere

A CDC study showed that a range of factors contribute to suicide among those with and without known mental health conditions. Everyone can help prevent suicide by knowing the warning signs and where to get help.
