	Heat-Related Deaths — United States, 2004–2018 Deaths attributed to natural heat exposure represent a continuing public health concern in the United States. During 2004–2018 an average of 702 heat-related deaths occurred annually in the United States. Preparedness and response initiatives that limit exposure during periods of extreme heat can reduce mortality.
